Species Japonica

CLOE ANDERTON - Lilac Purple (RHSCC 74D) with darker veins to 74A with Yellow anthers and pale Yellow filaments. Small, single with 7 petals. Average habit, density and growth rate. Scented. M-L. (N.Z. 2012 - Carol Anderton, Te Puke).

MELISSA JAMES- Deep red to Bluish-Red (RHSCC 53C) with Yellow anthers and Cream filaments. Medium semidouble with 12 cupped petals and no petaloids. Average spreading, density and growth rate. M-L. (N.Z. 2012 - Ailsa James, Te Puke).

RANGIURA - Dark Pink (RHSCC 52B) with Cream coloured stamens. Medium, single, with 8 near-circular, lightly waved petals that lie out flat. Average growth rate, structure and size. M. (N.Z. 2007 - A. & R. Hannam, Waikanae).


Species Reticulata and With Reticulata Parentage

ELSIE MARY- Rose Pink (RHSCC 53D) with Yellow anthers and White with Pink base filaments. Very large, semidouble with 16 petals and no petaloids. Average, upright growth. E-M. (N.Z. 2010 - Neil W. J. Ingram, New Plymouth).

HELENE'S BEAUTY - Pale Pink (RHSCC 62C - 62B) with White veining and Yellow anthers and Cream filaments. Large, semidouble with about 22 petals and 5 petaloids. Average, open, upright growth. M-L. (Reticulata Hybrid 'Herman Honnor' seedling?). (N.Z. 2012 - Colin Brockelsby, Matamata).

HELENE'S JEWEL - Mid-Pink (RHSCC 58D) with darker shadings (58C) and White veining with Gold anthers and White filaments White. Large, semidouble with about 24 petals and 0-2 petaloids. Average, upright, open growth. M-L. (Reticulata Hybrid 'Herman Honnor' seedling?). (N.Z. 2012 - Colin Brockelsby, Matamata).

HERMAN HONNOR - Rose (RHSCC 55A with bright Yellow anthers and Cream filaments. Very large, semidouble with about 18 petals and no petaloids Rapid, upright, dense growth. M-VL (Reticulata 'Captain Rawes' seedling?). (N.Z. 2012 - Colin Brockelsby, Matamata).

HIGH VOLTAGE - Glowing Crimson (RHSCC 47B) with Yellow anthers and Pink filaments. Very large, semidouble with about 30 petals and 0-5 petaloids. Average spread, density and growth rate. M-L. (N.Z. 2012 - John Lesnie, Manukau City,).

KEREN FRANCES - Rose Pink (RHSCC 53C) with Yellow anthers and Yellow filaments with a Pink base. Large, tight peony form with some stamens interspersed with the petals. Bloom has about 35 petals and 0-5 petaloids. Average spreading, dense, and medium growth rate. E-M. (N.Z. 2010 - Neil W.J. Ingram, New Plymouth).

IONA ISOBEL - Pink-Red (RHSCC 58C). Large, formal double with about 55 cupped, orbicular petals. Average, upright, dense growth. M. (N.Z. 2011 - Neil W. J. Ingram, New Plymouth).

TARANTELLA - Vibrant Red, (RHSCC 53C) with bright Yellow anthers and Cream filaments. Medium, peony form with 16-20 fluted, orbicular petals. Rapid, upright, average density growth. Light scent. E-M [(Sasanqua x Reticulata Hybrid 'Gael's Dream') x Japonica 'Takanini']. (N.Z. 2008 - Neville Haydon, Takanini).


Hybrids With Other Than Reticulata Parentage

DANCING FLAME - Rich, deep Scarlet (RHSCC 46B) with Gold anthers and Cream filaments. Medium, semidouble with 16-18 petals and occasionally a few petaloids. The upstanding petals are fluted and frilled at the edges. Stamens are interspersed with the petals. Average, upright, open (when young) growth. (Hybrid 'Peggy Burton' x Japonica 'Black Magic'). (N.Z. 2010 - Neville Haydon, Takanini).

DESMOND HAYDON - Light Pink (RHSCC 65C, shading to 65B at petal edges and centre). Small to medium, formal double with about 80 petals, usually cupped, size decreasing to tiny at flower centre. No petaloids. Average to strong, globular in shape, dense growth. L. (Saluenensis 'Haydon's Compact' seedling). (N.Z. 2012 - Neville Haydon, Takanini).

GARDEN GLOWSTICKS - Pink (RHSCC 61D) with Yellow anthers and White filaments. Small, semidouble with 13 petals and no petaloids. Rapid, upright, average density growth. E-L. (Pitardii Hybrid 'Pink Cameo' seedling'). (N.Z. 2012 - Neville Haydon, Takanini).

KARAKA GEM - Pink (RHSCC 64D). Formal double? with about 70 petals, which are lightly cupped and slightly notched, plus about 10 small, folded centre petals. No stamens. Slow, spreading, dense growth. M-L. (Saluenensis 'Haydon's Compact' seedling). (N.Z. 2012 - Neville Haydon, Takanini).

TANE - Dark Pink (RHSCC 52A) with Yellow anthers and White filaments. Medium, semidouble with 16- 20 lightly veined, waved and orbicular petals of fairly heavy texture. Stamens are small, in about 4 clusters. Average, spreading, open growth. E-L. (Hybrid 'Moshio' seedling). (N.Z. 2008 - Rodger Aitchison, Palmerston North).


Species Sasanqua

FIREWORKS - Radial stripes of alternating clean, deep Rose Red (RHSCC 57B) and light Pink to White. with bight Yellow anthers and light Yellow filaments. Small, single to semidouble with 8-11 petals, which are rounded to blunt at the edge. Average, upright, dense growth. Light, dusty scent. E. sasanqua season. (N.Z. 2010 - Neville Haydon, Takanini).
